The Junge Group recently had the opportunity to tour the Las Vegas facility. During the tour, the team received quite the education and were impressed by the company’s operations, sustainability efforts, and commitment to customer service. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the cutting-edge technologies and forward-thinking initiatives that are making Republic Services a true champion of sustainability.

Republic Services was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona. The company provides non-hazardous solid waste collection, recycling, and disposal services in the United States. They operate in over 40 states and Puerto Rico and serve approximately 14 million customers. The company employs more than 36,000 people and has a fleet of over 16,000 trucks. The Las Vegas campus is a behemoth of an industrial facility with non stop buzzing and whirring of state of the art conveyer belts and massive machinery.
Republic Services is committed to sustainability and has set ambitious goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase the use of renewable energy, and promote recycling. The company has invested in renewable natural gas facilities and is working towards a goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 35% by 2030. They also operate several recycling facilities and set a goal of increasing the amount of recyclable material it processes by 25% by 2025.
The Tour
During the tour, we were able to see firsthand how Republic Services operates its waste disposal and recycling facilities. The team was impressed by the company’s commitment to safety and sustainability. Republic Services, Inc. uses advanced technology to ensure the safe and efficient operation of its facilities, including GPS tracking of its trucks and automated waste collection systems.
We also learned about Republic Services recycling efforts. The company operates several recycling facilities that process a wide range of materials, including paper, plastic, and metal. We were impressed by the advanced technology used to sort and process recyclable materials, which included optical sorters and magnets. The Las Vegas facility alone is capable of sorting and processing up to 20 million pounds of recyclables a day.
Republic Services commitment to customer service is unsurpassed. They have a 24/7 customer service center that customers can call to report issues or request service. They also use advanced technology to track its trucks and monitor the status of its waste disposal facilities, which allows the company to quickly respond to customer needs.
